Music Monday's

So the uni OOTD failed...oops! I was quite unwell last week so I just threw on whatever was clean and hardly stylish to uni, therefore there was no point on posting them on here.
Instead today I bring you Music Monday. I always liked Lil Wayne and left the album playing on Spotify and this is definitely my new (depsite it being fairly old) favourite song:

Hope you like it too?

Finally, here's a photo of Alicia and I at a Black and White party, perfect occasion to wear my new Motel dress!

OOTD - Day at uni

Well well well, here is a long overdue OOTD.
I think this week (awkwardly starting on Tuesday) I will try and take a photo of what I wear to uni each day, a sort of 'university lookbook' we can call it.
So this is what I wore for my long hard day of one lecture hahaha...

awkward photo...

Dogtooth Coat - Oasis
Bag - Zara
Boots - Urban Outfitters
Supercosy Tights - Primark
Polka dot skirt - Monki
Polo neck jumper - charity shop
Belt - Primark
Bobble beanie hat - Oasis
Gold band rings - set from H&M
Gold chain necklace - ASOS
Nail varnish - Nail Inc 'London' + glitter

If you guys haven't picked up a pair of Primark's Supercosy tights, I urge you to. They are so soft with their fleece lining and really protect me from the Edinburgh chill!

Hope you like my OOTD today!

ASOS Treats

Whenever ASOS and Unidays collaborate to give us overworked and underpaid students 25% off, I cannot resist.
I might have slightly blew the budget this time...but I love all my new pieces. All prices below are shown before discount added as the discount is no longer available, sorry folks!

Motel Penny Smock Dress - £45, a pricey item for sure but I was excited to get a lusted piece by Motel for cheaper than usual and not to mention it ticks three of this Spring/Summer's trends: monochrome, stripes and smock shape! Perfection!
3 Row Twist Necklace - £8, wouldn't usually justify paying so much for costume jewellery but it's such a statement piece that I will wear again and again, day and night.
Barry M High Shine Gel Finish Nail Polish in Prickly Pear -  £3.99, a bit of a random purchase I know but with the 25% discount and the fact I have been wanting this shade for a while I thought 'why the hell not?'
Tutu Leather Peep Toe Shoe Boot - I did not receive the student discount with these babies as they were already on sale for £27.50 down from £50...cannot complain!
So did you guys pick up any sneaky purchases to cheer you up with the workload that's already piling up despite only being a couple weeks into the semester?

I have gone a bit crazy on the shopping front recently - definitely on a spending ban from now on...which is proving very hard since ASOS now have 70% sale on lots of more items!

New Year Purchases

Well it's been quite a while since I've blogged and I feel terrible for neglecting my blog but I've been so busy with exams and everything...you know how it is!
However my New Years resolution is to blog more often and hopefully this year I'll stick to it, especially since I've got some lovely new pieces in my wardrobe at Christmas and in the sales that I cannot wait to show them off in OOTD's.
Here are the first few things I brought this year:

Topshop Grey Speckle Roll Neck Jumper - I wanted this when it first got reduced to £12, but I'm so glad I waited as I got this super cosy jumper for just £6.30 (£7 with no student discount)
I was quite unsure on this Primark cut out blouse as it was a size 12 but the cut out collar detail, the fact that it's monochrome (a big trend for 2013 I hear?) and that it was only £5 down from £10 sure did persuade me!

I picked up these fairly bright blue wash Lee vintage shorts in the amazing YMCA charity shop in Harlow. They have tons of denim shorts/cut offs for crazy low prices compared to elsewhere! They only cost me £5.98 , not even on sale, which is a bargain as places in Edinburgh/London charge over £20 for vintage shorts.
Finally I got a Coconut Body Shop Body Butter as I received a £3 Giftcard with a magazine and  as I need a body lotion, got this 50ml £5 tub for £2 :)
The Topman silver tooth chain necklace was an impulse buy whilst browsing Topman, was half price and with student discount only cost £1.89, not bad eh?!

I would like to believe I won't go shopping again for a while, but I know as soon as I get my student loan I'll be running to Princes Street hehe! Got my eye on quite a few things, a New Year Wish List will get posted very soon if you are interested....
Hope you had a lovely Christmas and are enjoying the New Year!

Seven Autumn Wishes

1. Fake Fur Collar - H&M
Whilst I cannot afford a new coat for this season, I thought to 'spice up' my old ones this collar would be perfect.
2. Touch of Silver Shampoo - Boots
Having recently ombré-d my hair I want to protect the colour. I was recommend a silver shampoo by my flatmate, Lucy. This seems to be the cheapest and best reviewed one, so next time I'm in Boots I will snap it up.
3. Mini Spike Choker Necklace - ASOS
I'm lacking in the short silver necklace department - this is just what I have been looking for. It looks great for layering or on it's own.
4. Millie Shirt - Monki
For those days when I've overslept, I want this to throw on with jeans and run to lectures.
5. Allyson Geek Tee in Black - Missguided
I don't usually like tops with bold words on them, especially ones that everyone is buying (the Topshop version sold out so quickly) but this one I actually like...probably because I am actually a geek.
6. Navy Velvet Skater Skirt - Topshop
This skirt would be perfect for the day with a white shirt and boots or for the night with a crop top and my heeled creepers.
7. Black Zipped Heeled Boots - H&M
I'm currently wearing my old H&M Chelsea boots that are way past their sell by date as they are ripped all over the place. These ones are definitely in the affordable price range and all my past H&M boots have lasted over 2 years, so I know I can trust this pair too.

I hope you like! What is your favourite item? What's on your wishlist this October?

Glasgow + Music

The boyfriend and I took a trip to Glasgow for our two year anniversary and it was so lovely. We ate lots, looked a crazy modern art and explored the beautiful architecture of the city whilst browsing through the shopping streets.

I'm the typical tourist, I take photos of all the pretty buildings I see even if I haven't gone inside them, I hope you like my random snaps.

As today is Monday, I thought I'll bring back Music Monday's. As you may have heard The xx have returned...finally, with the album Coexist. I have been waiting for the second album for a looooong time, even though I never got bored of the first one. I'm always a bit dubious to listen to an new album in full so I kept repeating Angels for a few days, until today I left the album playing as I got ready for uni and one song really stood out to me. This song 'Try' is just perfect, a bit odd, but still perfect...sadly they've banned all recordings of it on Youtube :(
If you'd like to listen to it please follow this link to hear it: LISTEN HERE

Hope you all are having a good Monday!

My Balayage Ombré experience

Well it's been a while since I've blogged...sorry about that, been busy with uni things and settling into my new flat...however I want to start regularly posting from now on, so please keep reading my blog :)

Yesterday I finally took the plunged and went to get my hair ombré-d (is that even a term?)
I wanted the balayage look seen on many celebrities such as Lily Aldridge and Rachel Bilson, however I knew this look would not be the do-it-yourself ombré if I wanted it done well and I was due a hair cut as well.
So I booked an appointment at Medusa hair salon South Clerk Street in Edinburgh and safe to say I love it (how vain is that haha?!)
My colourist and senior stylist Leigh understood what I wanted and told me it would suit me, which was a relief! Yet she told me it's best I kept the colour at the ends and underneath the tops of my head instead of at the fronts, otherwise the roots would come up badly quickly and it'd look too streaky if I tied it up. I felt my hair was safe in her hands especially as she told me I didn't have to use bleach as it was the first time I've dyed my hair. I also got my hair cut by stylist Calvin, I went for a little chop with some long layers to emphasise the colour more. Most of the hairdressers I've been to before just give me a rough blow dry without asking me how I'd like it to save them time but this time creative director Lynn asked me how I wanted it and took the time to wave my hair exactly how I wished for it to look.

The whole thing took quite a while, I think I was in there from 1.30pm to 4.45pm but it was definitely a Friday afternoon well spent. I'm not a typical girly girl but I really enjoyed sitting having my hair 'beautified'. All the team who worked on my hair were so lovely yet professional and I'd definitely recommend Medusa to everyone. I made a great 40% off saving with the student Snapfax, the whole thing should have cost £104.50 but it cost me £62.70...true this is extremely pricey still but I always said if I was going to have my hair dyed I wanted it done professionally.

Sooo what do you think?? The colour doesn't show that much in these webcam photos but I hope you get the jist:

I love how it was styled, wish I could have it like this everyday!

Excuse the bed head styling but the colour shows up the best here.
The colour on the back photo is the colour that's been used but it doesn't show up as much in the other photos, I like that it's not the stark bleach blonde but a more caramel highlight to my brunette hair.

What do you think? Hope you like?
